Each styled shoot is so different and is created for different reasons. A styled shoot is a collaboration of professionals in the wedding industry who come together to create a luxury styled shoot. Being a photographer I realize how important it is in our industry to always expand our skill and learn from others. A styled shoot allows you to do just that without the pressure of an actual weddings timelines and craziness. Read on as I go more in detail about that. As photographers we should be an inspiration to others, not a source of envy.
1. Meet and Greet | Introduction
The day started with a meet and greet, introduction by Ruben Lesh, our host. Ruben along with Amanda Pool and Madison Hare shared some tips and tricks, and things they learned along the way photographers. I remember Madi mentioning, “The way you make your client will is what will propel you forward in your business” – that blew me away.
Learning from a documentary photographer Amanda Pool was an eye opening experience. Her perspective on what makes photos timeless and documentary was so different. I feel like it has opened a whole new channel of expressing myself. It has inspired me to not just pose but to capture the in between, capture life in every session.
I love that we as photographers brings our own flare, our own twist on the way we photograph. Sharing our experience with other photographers at a styled shoot and inspiring each other makes us better at our own craft. That is what I love about styled shoots, the creative outlet, making it difficult to put down the camera.
2. the Styled Shoot | elegance meets class
When we got into our styled shoot, everything was so perfectly cohesive, beautiful and planned. From the smallest detail to each individual fork, name placement and even water glass. The overall vibe was so friendly, encouraging, inspiring that it didn’t feel like we were more than just strangers.
Our models Rachel and Grant blew it out of the park. This real couples love was so authentic that during the shoot I cried. When Grant saw Rachel all dolled up again, he swirled her around at which I literally started crying because of how sweet it was. In the moment it made me miss my husband that much more, and it has only been a few hours since I saw him last. I get so inspired by couples that are deeply in love because it radiates through your photos that I capture, and that is what makes it timeless for me.
3. Catering | GANDER AND RYEGRASS
This luxury styled shoot has been an experience I will not shortly forget. After three styled shoots we ended the night with a magical dinner hosted by Gander and Ryegrass a restaurant based out of Spokane WA. This was a 5 course dinner that I will dream about. Please do yourself a favor if you live in the Spokane area and check out Gander and Ryegrass restaurant. It is a perfect date night idea.
4. The Venue | Greenhouse on Harvard
The stunning venue is a brand new location built by Mike and Ally. Greenhouse On Harvard is a venue located in Rockford, WA which is about 45 min on the outskirts of Spokane. Mike and Ally have worked tirelessly to build this stunning venue. With delays and setbacks with COVID, the process took longer than anticipated. But to see everything come together the day of the shoot was a tearful moment indeed. If your in the Spokane area consider this gorgeous venue for your event. You guys, the sunset in this location is spectacular.
